Adult Literacy

Literacy drive started in AMSS to meet the immediate demand of women and within a short time it became a budgeted activity of AMSS. Thereafter effort has been made by AMSS for strategic intervention in this regard. Introducing the primer of State Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA) and evaluation by the same becomes integral part of the literacy drive. Each district sets target according to the demand of women. This year 1960 women of Darrang, Sonitpur and Dhemaji districts appeared in the exam on basic literacy organized by National Institute of Open School in collaboration with State Resource Centre, Assam on pilot basis under Saakshar Bharat Mission. Women were happy to test themselves. In this exam District implementation units of the said districts were engaged to monitor the examination centers. Along with district level functionaries, cluster resource person and twelve federation members also involved in the monitoring process.

  • Evaluation of learner in the process of learning by the instructors and taking remedial steps accordingly
  • Final evaluation of learners and felicitation of the instructors

Challenges in literacy drive
